Modest Showcase by Drive Cartel : Minnesota's Largest indoor Car Show Recap
Modest Showcase 2025 – St. Paul’s Premier Automotive Event Recap

The Modest Showcase 2025 in St. Paul, Minnesota, was nothing short of spectacular. From action of the RC cars to the delicious aroma of local food vendors ( The Italian Deli was 100), the event was packed with excitement, competition, and a stunning variety of vehicles. This year’s show featured everything from drift cars and time attack builds to rare VIP cars and meticulously restored classics—making it one of the most diverse automotive gatherings in the Midwest.

A Day of Competitions, Cars, and Culture
The event was hosted by Bear Dellinger, bringing contagious energy and humor to the day. Attendees enjoyed a builders competition, a high-energy RC car course, and plenty of activities to keep families and enthusiasts engaged. Vendor booths lined the venue, offering products, services, and interactive displays for car lovers of all ages.
Oberk Car Care & King Motorsports – Honda Heritage on Display
Oberk Car Care partnered with King Motorsports to showcase a stunning lineup of Honda performance icons—some of which had never been displayed at Modest before.
Headlining the Booth
-
2023 FL5 Mugen Civic Type R – The latest Mugen-tuned Civic, combining cutting-edge performance with motorsport heritage.

-
1974 Mugen Civic RS – A rare classic that stole the spotlight, earning top honors at the event.

Standout Builds from the Oberk Team
This year, six vehicles made up the Oberk and King showcase, with three taking home awards.
Joel’s Acura NSX – A Complete Transformation
Joel’s NSX has been a familiar face at Modest over the years, but 2025 marked a complete visual overhaul. Gone was the Marga Hills aero kit—replaced by a full Advance body kit, widened fenders, a new hood, and a Saclam exhaust. The only exterior piece untouched was the rear wing, yet many attendees didn’t notice the massive transformation—a subtle reminder of how attention to detail is fading in car culture.

David Patterson’s DB8 Integra Type R – OEM+ Perfection
Making its Modest debut, David’s rare four-door Integra Type R featured an enviable list of Mugen and Mode Parfume upgrades, delivering an OEM+ aesthetic that had enthusiasts stopping for a second look.

Zach Minch’s DC2 Integra – Showroom Quality
A returning favorite, Zach’s immaculate DC2 Integra once again wowed the crowd with flawless presentation and timeless style.

Tom’s EM1 Civic Si – Preserving Original Beauty
Oberk’s newest team member, Tom, brought his EM1 Civic Si—still wearing its original 25-year-old OEM paint. The car’s well-preserved finish and thoughtful upgrades made it a sleeper hit among Honda purists.

Award-Winning Lineup
Out of the six Oberk and King Motorsports vehicles on display, three brought home awards:
-
King Motorsports 1974 Mugen Civic RS
-
David Patterson’s DB8 Integra Type R
-
Joel’s Acura NSX

Echelon Coatings from Japan on Display!

The King Motorsports x Mugen FL5 was on display showing off all the brand new Mugen parts available for the new civic and Type R chassis.

@mnhondaguy came in tough with the super rare JUN valve cover and a ton or pretty exclusive parts that all fit together well for his EG hatch.

Mugen Goodies on display at the King Motorsports booth.

Along with Limited edition Leen Custom Pins of the 74 RS and 100 numbered posters of the civic as well.

Boon came with his @DiabloIntegra which always seems to steal the show. In fact I belive this is the second time he has taken the "vehicle of the Festival" award, and is well deserved.

This car has a variety of wheel setups, all which fit perfectly. This year he displayed 2 colors and 2 different style wheels on each side of the car, giving a different look depending on the side you viewed it. Additionally he has a variety or exterior aero pieces to change up and transform the look of this car pretty regularly.

John (@nlpkaienshiba) and his husband @track_dog from @endlessprojects brought out the Y33 and a couple Civics they have been working on. Always great to see them when heading out to MN every summer.

There were a lot of great Honda builds on display. While I love the new vehicles and the evolution of modding cars, my real love is for older, golden era Hondas that are preserved well and done at a high level with quality parts, style and fitment

This JDM EG hatch was very clean and had a ton of great OEM and OEM+ parts.

This 4wd sedan was a personal favorite. Oddly enough there was a different ef sedan last year that was really clean and well done also.

The spoon regamaster wheels and spoon parts made this hatchback super clean.

Kyle Harty's (@kylehartygs400 )Lexus GS is one of my favorite VIP builds and is done from top to bottom. It was displayed with the Airlift booth, which had a number of really nice vehicles on display.

More from the airlift booth...

Beautiful GN on air...

Chris Chor's (@chrischorphotogrphy) G was on display at the Airlift booth also, and looked really nice. Wheels and fitment are on point for sure.

A personal favorite was this S14 style Nissan 240sx. Perfect selection of parts and well put together vehicle.

Very cool Volvo with a supra powerplant...

This RSX won best engine bay, and its obvious why. Pretty well done on all angles.
Always love old Skylines.

This widebody RX7 wasn't my style specifically but was an incredible build with great period correct parts and still had its Wankel intact. I do like the look of this car a lot, but i just have a soft spot for this body style without being widebodied.

This Porsche swapped cab build has been to Modest before, but is always fun to see. One of the few vehicle that is custom and done in every are including interior, engine bay, paint etc.

Don't really see too many Celica cars anymore, especially a JDM GTFour

@BoostedChinita Supercharged CR S2000 at the @DiamondLightWorks Booth

Saclam Na-1 Exhaust

Well put together Legacy Wagon

Unhinged Diecast came out with some awesome items, and actually brought out the Spoon Eg build featured earlier.

JWP Automotive brought out their DA integra build they have been working on that had a lot of great fab work as well as a super clean chassis.

This Em1 had 2 sets of wheels also which looked really nice.

Thanks for checking out my photos and recent blog.
Make sure you stay tuned for the next features from the Night Cap Event with King Motorsports and The Meet, as well as another featuring the newest Ring Brothers build, a 1971 Aston Martin.
